Allantoin
Used in skin care to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and to promote wound healing and is known for its soothing effects since ancient times. The FDA considers it a great product for minor cuts, sunburn, diaper rash and chapped lips. It also stimulates the growth of new skin. Find it in our foundations and lip products.

 

Aloe Vera

Aloe vera is known for its wound healing, anti-inflammatory and anti-aging benefits. We used primarily as a moisturizer, for keeping your skin hydrated. 
 

Beeswax

Beeswax is a humectant, which means it helps your skin retain its own moisture. It has anti-inflammatory properties and is the perfect solution for sensitive skin. We will eventually use beeswax from beehives of friends, harvested humanely and with the utmost care and love for these amazing creatures.

Bentonite Clay

This fine powder forms when volcanic ash ages. Bentonite clay is antibacterial and anti-inflammatory. It is used to remove impurities such as excess oils and toxins. 

 

Carmine

Carmine is a natural dye that is made from dried bodies of a female insect called Cochineal. You will NOT find this product in our cosmetics.

Castor Oil

The fatty acids in this oil will promote growth of healthy skin tissue and is helpful with uneven skin tones. It prevents wrinkles because of its anti-oxidants that fight free radicals. Castor Oil is a natural humectant that sooths skin inflammation and therefore is a great choice for acne prone skin.

Chamomile

We use chamomile in our cleansing grains to reduce signs of aging by protecting the skin from free radicals. It accelerates tissue renewal, reducing the appearance of fine lines and makes your skin glow. 

 

Comfrey

Promotes new skin cell growth, therefore being an anti-aging ingredient.

C-SMAX

A Sericite Mica which has been surface treated with Carnauba wax. "Carnauba treated Sericite is natural and vegan. The wax coating helps bind the particles, so the formulas are less 'flyaway'. This makes it our choice for pressing powders. The wax also keeps the mica from changing color as it absorbs oil and helps eliminate the typical shine on the surface of the mica particles. After blending, it feels amazingly smooth, light and doesn't leave an ashen look on your skin.

Elderflower

Known for its high vitamin A, B, C and E content, it makes the skin firmer, improves complexion, and can even out skin tone.

Fractionated Coconut Oil

Very stable emollient oil that is non-greasy, non-comedogenic (anti-pore clogging and acne causing).

Grapeseed Oil

This oil is extracted from grape seeds left over from the wine making process. It is rich in omega 6 fatty acids, vitamin C, D & E. 

​

Green Tea

The anti oxidants in green tea gently exfoliate, reduce puffiness, redness and therefore is an excellent ingredient. 

​

Kaolin Clay

Natural clay that offers adhesion, absorbs oil and prevents pore clogging.

Lauryl laurate

This wax-like emollient helps bioactive ingredients better integrate with skin's surface. It also contributes to a soft finish, helps provide a smooth glide It is made from a mixture of coconut and palm oils (RSPO certified sustainable). It is a solid, fast melting and will give a dry and powdery feel on the skin.  A perfect replacement for artificial silicones.

Magnesium Myristate

Made from myristic acid which makes our products feel creamier, binding ingredients together.

Magnesium Stearate

Vegetable based, to help slip and smooth texture in cosmetics.

Mica

Mica is a silicate mineral, milled into a fine powder. Since it is naturally produced, it is a well-loved product among organic and natural beauty brands for it's brilliant and shimmering appearance, making skin look smoother and radiant. It is safe for all skin types with no side-effects.

Octyldodecanol

Is lightweight emollient oil, that is is a great silicone alternative. It helps to keep ingredients from separating, while it provides a soft, luxurious appearance to the skin due to its moisturizing ability without being greasy. This 100% natural clear and odorous fatty acid is derived from coconut.

Oxides

Iron Oxides are created during the process of oxidation and come in a wide variety of tones. They are compounds that naturally occur in nature which make them 100% natural. They are used for their rich and intense color. Oxides are resistant to moisture and for longevity of a product. They do not smear or bleed easily.

Pashmica

A natural mineral mica with silky smooth texture that rolls and glides over the skin, provides a soft focus/dewy finish. 

​

Peppermint Essential Oil

This essential oil is steam distilled from the leaves of the menthe arvensis plant. It provides a fresh and cooling sensation, increases blood circulation, raises energy levels and is the perfect additive for our lip products.

Pumpkin See Oil

This oil has the ability to hydrate the skin without leaving an oily residue. It increases firmness, anti-aging and a moisturizer that is suitable for oily skin. 

​

Shae Butter

Known for its calming effects and anti inflammatory properties.  it can assist in healing acnes, reduces signs of aging and is a wonderful moisturizer. This is a  natural fat, which comes from processing Shea tree nuts. 23 North uses unrefined because of its wonderful smell.

Silica

Silica is a mineral found all over the planet, in sand stone, clay, granite and even in plants. We add it to our formulas as it improves performance and feel on your skin. 

​

Squalene Olive Oil

Deeply moisturizes the skin without leaving an oily finish. Anti-aging, UV projection and anti-bacterial.

​

Vegetable glycerin

Vegan and cruelty free, acts as a moisturizer, reduces skin irritations and wound healing. A prefect additive to our cream to powered formula for creaminess and smoothness.

Vitamin E

Not a single vitamin but rather a group of fat soluble vitamins with natural anti-oxidant effects. Prevents inflammation and is also listed as a skin cancer prevention ingredient (per MedicalNewsToday.com) It is also known for anti-aging and sunburn prevention.

Zinc Oxide

Protects the skin from UV and other damaging rays. Natural mineral that offers skin healing properties.
